Grief (Deep Sorrow)

It is no coincidence that the Lord chose me to write our March devotion. For many years March has been my least favorite month of the year due to the loss of loved ones during this particular month. On March 3, 2018 our beloved Father went to be with the Lord. For certain now March is my least favorite month.

Grief is a personal emotion not just experienced through death. It can be caused by the loss of a marriage, a relationship, a friendship, a job, being relocated, etc. These "endings" to parts of our lives can cause us to feel grief in our hearts. They are real and raw emotions and they can cause as to feel overwhelmed and anxious. I have great news though; Jesus in you will give you his strength and heal your heart!

Blessed are they that mourn; For they shall be comforted. ( Matthew 5:4 )
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. ( Psalms 34:18 )

In June 2022, the Lord lead my husband and I to relocate from Charlotte NC to Raleigh NC. A wonderful door open for my husband and his career. I spent many years praying for this advancement for him and here was the Lord's answer. It was an exciting time in our lives. A few weeks after we were in Raleigh and settled in, I experienced an enormous emotion that came over me. I had what felt like endless tears and some hurt in my heart. I had to grieve the loss of what I had know for over 12 years. I fully believe that we are where the Lord wants us to be, but that doesn't mean I didn't have grief from it! Jesus has promised me Psalms 61:2, "From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, When my heart is overwhelmed: Lead me to the rock that is higher than me."
